Visiting Student from Yale-NUS College, Singapore

Hello! My name is Ryan and I am a visiting student from Yale-NUS College in Singapore. Currently a junior majoring in Environmental Studies and minoring in Philosophy, this semester at UH Manoa is actually my semester abroad! Even though I have only been here for a few weeks, my time in Hawai’i has been absolutely amazing. Everything about this island—the people, the places, the culture, the food—has been an interesting experience I will definitely miss when I head back in the fall. Until then, I hope to give back to this community by helping to support students who are eager to take the same plunge.

Visiting Student from Yale-NUS College, Singapore

Hi there! My name is Celeste Beh and I am currently on my exchange semester here at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. My home university is Yale-NUS College in sunny Singapore, where I am a History major and Chinese Studies minor in my junior year. As I was applying to study in UH Mānoa, I spent a lot of time consulting the MIX website, which was extremely helpful for me because I was still relatively unsure of the application process and the steps I needed to take in order to apply for my exchange here. Settling into Hawaiʻi was a lot easier with the wealth of resources I was provided with, and I hope to pay it forward by being a useful resource for students intending to spend some time abroad immersing in the culture of another institution.

Studied at Korea University, Seoul, Korea

Hello! My name is Allison Fluetsch and I am a junior majoring in Political Science. I have just come back to UH Manoa after spending the last year in Seoul, South Korea. While I have always been passionate about travel and expanding my horizons, nothing prepared me for how transformative my experience was while living and studying abroad at Korea University. My dreams of studying abroad were made possible through the MIX Program, and it’s my goal to help other students discover the endless opportunities that can be found through studying abroad.

My name is Amelia McKenzie, and I am a senior majoring in Asian Studies.  I was able to get the opportunity to study for a semester in Nishinomiya, Japan.  Going on an international exchange has always been something that I wanted to accomplish while attending university.  I transferred to UH Manoa in my junior year, and, even with such a short timeline, I am still on track to graduate in four years.  Nothing is impossible, and I hope to help students on their journey towards studying abroad.
