This page is your resource for your upcoming NSO. Any updates will be posted here and NOT emailed out. It is your responsibility to check this page frequently as we get closer to the Fall 2023 term and NSO. New Student Orientation (NSO) is our first contact with prospective cadets, who have already registered for AS101 and AS101L, and a chance for you to learn about our program and get oriented to cadet life.  Prospective Cadet attendees will spend 2 – 3 hours preparing inprocessing documents. Please see the list of actions and documents we’ll need for a smooth in-processing.

Incoming cadets who registered for AS101 and AS101L after 14JULY23 must email afrotc@hawaii.edu to be placed on our incoming roster. ALL INCOMING CADETS MUST follow the below instructions.

If you are trying to sign up for the three-year “AS250” program, you must reach out to afrotc@hawaii.edu to set up an appointment to interview with a Detachment Cadre member in order to enter this abbreviated program.

Date and Location

NSO for Fall 2023 is scheduled for 16 August, 2023 at 0630. Please follow the below instructions carefully!

Location: 1460 Lower Campus Road, Honolulu HI, 96822.

Before arriving…

1. IMPORTANT: Download and print the New Cadet Orientation Packet here. Prior to arriving at Orientation, all prospective cadets must read the packet and provide the required information in the spaces provided. Instructions for creating your AFROTC WINGS account are included in the Orientation Packet. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY!

Cadets applying from schools other than UH Manoa, UHWO, and HCC, please email us once you have created your WINGS account.

2.  For prospective cadets under the age of 18 as of 16 August 2023, parental or guardian consent must be obtained on several forms. These forms are included in the Orientation Packet, and two forms require a Notary to witness them if not signed in the presence of Detachment Cadre. If you are under the age of 18 as of 16 August 2023, it is preferred that a parent or guardian accompanies you to New Cadet Orientation. If this is not possible, please have the required memorandums witnessed by a notary and brought to Orientation.

3. On the day of New Student Orientation: Bring a water bottle, pen, and laptop.

4. Physical Fitness: By 15SEP23, ALL cadets will have taken their first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA). All cadets must complete the AFROTC Form 28 included in the NSO Packet in order to participate. Poor performance may be grounds for dismissal from Detachment 175. You can view the PFA score charts here. The components of the PFA are:
1-minute of Pushups
1-minute of Situps
1.5 Mile Maximum Effort Run
