FAQS

Do I need to be a college student?

Yes. All of our students must be full time college students for a minimum of three years. However, the program is open to both undergrads and graduate students.

What is the time commitment?

Officially, students meet three times a week for ROTC totaling about 10 hours (details in “A Day in the Life” Section). However, we expect students to put in additional time outside of training for personal and team development. For our upper level students, ROTC is treated like a part time job and can take up to 20 hours a week.

How do I sign up/apply?

Getting started is easy. All you have to do is register for AS 101 (Fall) or 102 (Spring). Students in the UH System (Manoa, UHWO, HCC) will have their contact information automatically pulled. Students coming from other colleges or universities should email us once they have created their WINGS account. ALL students should RSVP for New Student Orientation.

I’ve never worked out before…Am I even eligible to sign up?

We accept students from any fitness background. Many of our freshman have very limited athletic backgrounds coming into the program. However! We value fitness and a healthy lifestyle. New students are expected to work hard their first semester to meet our minimum standards and upper-classmen are expected to push the limits for physical fitness excellence.  The best way to get started is to run for 20 minutes a day and work on full form push-ups and sit-ups.
