Overview:

The University of Leeds is globally recognized for its excellence in teaching and research. As well as being a part of the prestigious Russell Group, the University of Leeds is in the top ten universities in the United Kingdom. It has one of the largest campuses in the United Kingdom and is just a short walk from the vibrant Leed’s city center. Leeds prides itself on being a multicultural community, the University itself hosting 7,000 international students. Leeds is filled with shops, restaurants, bars, museums, galleries, and theaters, providing students with ample entertainment. The city is considered very affordable, and is just a short train ride away from other major British cities like London (2 hours away) and Edinburgh (3 hours away). The city is also surrounded by an easily accessible and beautiful countryside.

Exchange students will be studying along British and International students, and have the chance to study a variety of subjects in 9 faculties. These are: Medicine and Health; Biological Sciences; Business; Engineering; Environment; Mathematics and Physical Sciences; Arts, Humanities and Cultures; Education, Social Sciences and Law; and Skills Modules.

Academic Details:

Exchange Students are allowed to take any course offered in the semester of their exchange, across all of the University’s faculties (Medicine and Health; Biological Sciences; Business; Engineering; Environment; Mathematics and Physical Sciences; Arts, Humanities and Cultures; Education, Social Sciences and Law; and Skills Modules). A full-time course load is 60 credits, but students are encouraged to apply for up to 100 credits worth of classes, as some classes may become unavailable. Students should also note that classes or courses in the United Kingdom are generally referred to as “modules”. In addition to their normal courses, the University encourages students to consider taking electives to broaden their experiences. Students can choose from elective modules, discovery modules, career modules, and skills electives.

Housing Details:

New international students are guaranteed accommodation by the University as long as they apply by the deadline. Students can choose from on or off campus, en suite or non en suite and catered or self-catered rooms. The university provides numerous social activities for students in the residences, making it easy for exchange students to feel at home and make friends. The University has 24 different resident options to choose from, which students can search for depending on their accommodation and room type preferences.
