Overview:

Located in the heart of Hong Kong, The City University of Hong Kong (CityU) has a well-earned reputation as an innovative hub for research and professional education and for addressing global issues and empowering positive change. It is regularly considered one of the top universities in the world (#53 according to QS World University Rankings 2022) and one of the best universities in the world under 50 years old (#4 in the QS “Top 50 under 50” in 2021). CityU has 4 Colleges and 3 Schools: College of Business, College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, College of Science and Engineering, College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences, School of Creative Media, School of Energy and Environment, and School of Law. Additionally, CityU’s College of Business is ranked #1 in the Asia-Pacific Region in the UTD Top 100 Business School Research Rankings 2019.

CityU is located at the heart of the city. The University is close to the Kowloon Tong Station, which connects to the Mass Transit Railway (MTR). (Source: About Us: City University of Hong Kong 2018)

Academic Details:

Academic areas at CityU include Accounting, Management, Economics, Technology, Global Business, and Marketing. Exchange Students are required to enroll at least 50% of their course load with College of Business (CB). For 12 credit units of the course load during the exchange semester, a minimum of 2 courses (or 6 credit units) must be taken from CB. Note to Business Students: CUHK is AACSB accredited.

Non-Business electives, including Chinese Language courses (Mandarin and Cantonese) offered by other Colleges and Departments are also available to exchange students.

A majority of the courses carry 3 credits. In each semester, exchange students should take a total of 12 to 18 credits (4 – 6 courses). A credit unit is earned by approximately 40-50 hours of student work. (Source: City University of Hong Kong Fact Sheet 2017-18)

Housing Details:

Applications should be made to the Student Residence Office before the application deadlines (see link below). Late applications will NOT be considered unless vacancy is available. Eligibility:

  • Participants must be undergraduates
  • Sophomore standing
  • Business majors only
  • 2.5 cumulative GPA
