Overview:

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is the territory’s oldest institute of higher learning and also an internationally recognized, research led, comprehensive university. While recognising the strength of its heritage and traditions, HKU also engages in frontier research and academic endeavours that reflect and address the needs of a fast changing, knowledge-based world. Academic Details:

English is the language of instruction, except in the case of courses offered by the Department of Chinese. Students are required to take a minimum of 24 credits (6 credits per course in general) to a maximum of 30 credits per semester. At least 3 courses (worth 18 credits) must be chosen from one single faculty, with the remaining credits from other faculties. (For Faculty of Business and Economics, the minimum and maximum credits is 6 and 30 respectively.)  Note to Business Students: CUHK is AACSB accredited. Housing Details:

Exchange students will have accommodation on-campus depending on availability. Dorms are co-ed, but rooms are same-sex. Most rooms are doubles – only St. John’s College, Ricci Hall, and HKU Residential Colleges provide very limited single rooms. All rooms have wireless internet access. Eligibility:

  • Sophomore standing
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA (3.0 GPA for business and economics, 3.3 GPA for law)
