On Friday October 20, Ka Huli Ao hosted students from Poʻi Nā Nalu, the Native Hawaiian Career and Technical Education Program at Honolulu Community College. Poʻi Nā Nalu provides Native Hawaiian students with support services to help them successfully navigate through higher education and beyond. Students in the program come from a variety of programs within the Community College, including Hawaiian Studies, Business, Computer Technology, and Cosmetology. Their visit began with a brief tour of the law school, including the law library and the moot court room, guided by Professor Avis Poai ’04 and Post-JD Legal Fellow Letani Peltier ‘17.
After the tour, students were provided with light refreshments and a talk-story session to discuss the numerous social justice programs at the law school, as well as the law school experience in general. Students were inquisitive and engaged, and their enthusiasm was truly inspiring.
Ka Huli Ao is grateful and honored to have had the opportunity work with Poʻi Nā Nalu again this year and we hope to continue this tradition going forward.
