Devon is the Micropropagation Laboratory manager for the Hawaiian Rare Plant Program at Lyon Arboretum. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Botany from UH Mānoa in 2020. His work
and research are focused on preventing extinctions of critically endangered Hawaiian plants by
using tissue culture and cryopreservation to store plant propagules long-term. This is his first
term serving on the Mānoa Staff Senate and he is also serving on the Shared Governance
Committee. As a Staff Senator, Devon is excited to learn from and serve with the other Staff
Senators. Devon was born and raised in Kona on Hawaiʻi Island and moved to Oʻahu to study at
UH Mānoa. Outside of work, he paddles outrigger canoes and takes his cat for walks.
