Fall 2020 Election Timeline:  Nominations to fill ten (10) senate seats to serve January 2021 – June 2022

    • September 30 – October 15 by 4:30 pm: Nomination Period
      • September 30, 2020 Elections Announcement
        • Qualifications:  To serve on the Mānoa Staff Senate (MSS), a member must hold a 1.0 full-time equivalency (FTE), Administrative, Professional and Technical (APT) position at UHM. It is recommended that senate members have 3 years of service at UHM.  Additional information on the duties and responsibilities of senators can be found in the MSS Bylaws (https://manoa.hawaii.edu/staffsenate/manoa-staff-senate-bylaws/) .
        • Candidate must nominate themselves in order to be listed on the ballot.
        • Self-Nomination Form (http://go.hawaii.edu/3D8) – CLOSED
    • October 22 – October 30 by 4:30 pm: Online Voting Period
      • October 22, 2020 – Email announcement on how to vote will be disseminated to appropriate staff employees.
      • Senators will be elected by UH Mānoa staff employed in an Administrative, Professional, Technical (APT) position with at least 0.5 FTE.

When does the election open and close?

  • Opens: October 22, 2020, 8:00 AM
  • Closes: October 30, 2020, 4:30 PM

How do I vote?

  • An email will be sent to appropriate staff employees on October 22, 2020 with information on how to vote.

How many seats are up for election?

  • For this Fall 2020 election, there are ten (10) seats up for election. Seat terms will run from January 2021 – June 2022.

What happens if there is a tie?

  • Mānoa Staff Senate Executive Board will vote to break any ties that occur.
  • Criteria used to break ties:
    • Diverse representation of UH Mānoa units
    • Years of service
