Corwynn Wolf Madrone is the son of Jamie Niani Madrone, Donovan Nin, and Joseph Waters; the grandson of Oceana and Sungnome Madrone; the older brother of Brandon, Joseph, Madison, Hailey, Rashad, Onyx, Téa, Xavier, and Athena; and the uncle of Fletcher Mello-Madrone. He was born in Humboldt County in the Pacific Northwest Region of the United States of America, and has also lived and studied in Nepal, Korea, and Hawai‘i. Corwynn’s undergrad was a double major in English and Religious Studies, where he focused on Buddhist representation in modern media. He is now pursuing an MA in Religion with the Department of Religions and Ancient Civilizations at University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, where the focus of his thesis is on intersections of religious and gender identities in the Newar Buddhism of Kathmandu Valley. Corwynn was named after the main protagonist in Roger Zelazny’s Chronicles of Amber series, and his favorite book is The Word for World is Forest by Ursula K. le Guin.
