The Department of Languages & Literatures of Europe & the Americas (LLEA) undergraduate and graduate courses focus on language, culture, history, linguistics, film, literature, cultural studies, L2 methodology, and translation in French, German, Russian, Spanish, as well as in English (LLEA and LAIS courses).
What do we offer?
- 1st-year and 2nd-year language courses in French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish (any of which may be used to fulfill the two-year Hawaiian/Second Language (H/SL requirement)
- Minors in French, German Studies, Spanish and Latin American & Iberian Studies
- Certificate in Russian
- BA in Languages & Literatures of Europe & the Americas, with three tracks: French Studies, German Studies and Spanish & Latin American Studies
- MA in Spanish
Students in LLEA often take part in fun cultural activities, such as petanque, crepe classes, salsa lessons, movies, hikes, arts and crafts…
