Alwine and Jesse Doyle European Language Endowed Travel Grant
The Alwine & Jesse Doyle European Language Study Abroad Scholarships support University of Hawai'i at Mānoa students who want to earn credits in one of the languages taught in the Department of Languages & Literatures of Europe & the Americas (French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish) at an accredited university in Europe. Students who propose to study at a European university where no UHM program exists, should meet with the advisor or division head for that language before applying. Preference will be given to students studying at the 200-level or above. Preference for graduate awards will be given to LLEA students.
Recent awards have varied from $750 to $1500

Eligibility
- Applicant must have a 3.0 GPA in the language to be studied
- Applicant must have an overall 3.0 GPA
- Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate or classified graduate student in good standing
Fill out the online application form (which will require you to upload a copy of your STAR transcripts at the end).
Additionally, applicants must request two letters of recommendation from faculty who teach at UH Mānoa. Faculty must send the letters directly to the Doyle Selection Committee at llea464@hawaii.edu

Elizabeth “Betsy” Tan Scholarship Fund
The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarships to students in the French Division, College of Arts, Languages & Letters at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa to participate in the Study Abroad Program in France. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in second year or above of French study at UHM.
Mira Baciu-Simian Memorial Fellowship Fund
Mira Baciu-Simian Scholarship Annually, a scholarship or scholarships will be awarded to support research or study in France in the field of French literature and culture. Preference will be given to those candidates (graduate or undergraduate) wishing to study or research the Rumanian influence on European literature and culture and who have not previously studied abroad.

Dorothy Aspinwall Endowed Scholarship
Students interested in the Dorothy Aspinwall Endowed Scholarship shall be juniors or seniors (full time or part time) in the College of Arts, Languages & Letters who are pursuing a major in the Department of Languages & Literatures of Europe & the Americas (LLEA) with an emphasis in French language studies.
Myra T. Harada Endowed Scholarship
The purpose of this Fund is to provide scholarship support to undergraduate students pursuing a degree in English, French, Linguistics, Art, Theatre or Music at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa College of Arts, Languages & Letters (CALL). Funds shall be used for costs associated with attendance (e.g. tuition, books, fees, etc.).
German Benevolent Society
This scholarship is for Hawaiʻi residents pursuing a BA in LLEA/German Studies or a Certificate in German at UHM. Awards are based on GPA and financial need, and preference is given to German Studies majors. The minimum award is typically $2,000. Students may receive this award more than once. To apply, submit a general application to the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation, and be sure to identify your major program of study as German Studies (BA or Certificate): HCF (GBS)

Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX)
This scholarship is funded by the U.S. Department of State, provides young professionals, between the ages of 18.5 and 24, the opportunity to study, intern and live with a host in a cultural immersion program in Germany. Typically, 75 students are awarded the scholarship each year:

This Fulbright Program aims to improve intercultural relations, cultural diplomacy and intercultural competence between peoples of the U.S. and other countries through an exchange of persons, knowledge and skills. Frederick J. and Ella Lury Wiswell Scholarship Fund
The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarships to students at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa College of Arts, Languages & Letters to study Russian at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa and/or travel grants to study Russian at the Russian School at the Far Eastern State University in Vladivostok, or any other university of choice in Russia.
Knowlton-Coito Portuguese Endowed Scholarship Fund
Students enrolled at any UH campus may apply to the Knowlton-Coito Portuguese Endowed Scholarship Fund to study Portuguese language and/or culture in Portugal.
Linda Rudoy Memorial Spanish Scholarship Endowment
Linda Rudoy (BA, 1983 / MA, 1986; University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa) studied and taught Spanish at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa for nearly twenty years. In her time at UHM Linda Rudoy touched hundreds of lives while teaching in the Spanish program. She will always be remembered for her gracious manner both in and outside of the classroom and for sharing her passion for the language and cultures of Spain and Latin America with her students. She was truly beloved by her students and colleagues alike.
As a tribute to her excellence in and dedication to teaching, the Linda Rudoy Memorial Spanish Scholarship has been created with the generous support of the Rudoy family. We are proud to continue her legacy through this scholarship designed to provide financial support to one or more outstanding UHM Spanish majors each year.
