UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Asia

The first Asia Reading Room Display for the fall semester 2018, “UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Asia” kicked off on Sept. 1 st . Asia librarians have selected books featuring World Heritage sites in each region. To be listed as a World Heritage site, the site must be of outstanding, universal value and meet at least one of ten selection criteria listed at https://whc.unesco.org/en/criteria/

An important consideration for UNESCO is that countries will provide for “the protection, management, authenticity and integrity of properties.”

The display was coordinated and the graphic art created by Ms. Heewon Oh, Korea Foundation Internship Program Junior Visiting Librarian.
