The exhibit memorializes Phillip Olsen, an early Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines who became the director of the University's Peace Corps Program in the late 1960s and early 1970s, a position which included oversight of the University's Peace Corps Training Center in Hilo.

Items on display come from the University Archives' collection of material documenting the Peace Corps Training Center, from Olsen's estate, and from the collections of local Returned Peace Corps Volunteers and former staffers of the Hilo Training Center.
