Poster for Pacific Manuscript Bureau: Celebrating 50 Years Exhibit

April 22, 2018-May 31, 2018
Location: Hawaiian & Pacific Collection

This exhibit highlights the important work of Pacific Manuscripts Bureau (PAMBU) as well as the collaborative partnership between PAMBU and the University of Hawaiʻi Manoa Library. This year, both PAMBU and the Pacific Collection at University of Hawaiʻi Manoa celebrate their 50th anniversaries. PAMBU’s mission is to digitize Pacific Islands archives, photographs, and other rare materials. Learn the importance of preserving documentary heritage and making it accessible. For over 40 years, PAMBU used a large bulky microfilm camera to copy historical documents. In 2014, the Bureau moved to digital format. Kylie Moloney was Executive Officer at that time. She saw the importance of changing to a modern technology. PAMBU can now repatriate digital copies to people or organizations holding original collections in the Islands. Exhibit curated by PAMBU PhD student Eve Haddow and PAMBU Director Kari James. Posters and display case for PAMBU Exhibit
