Holding It Together: The Art of the Basket Featuring Micronesian Handicraft donated to the Pacific Collection by Isebong "Bonnie" Asang

The different States in Micronesia have developed distinctive forms of basketry. This month, the Special Collections exhibit, "Holding It Together: The Art of the Basket," displays samples of a variety of bags, purses, wallets, cigarette packs, briefcases, all finely constructed and lightly woven. The donor, Isebong "Bonnie" Asang, is a Palauan scholar who earned her PhD in education here at UH, spending many hours in the Pacific Collection.
