Seth was born and raised in Southern California but has deep family ties to Hawai‘i. His great grandfather emigrated to Hawai‘i from Japan in 1898 and worked on the sugar cane plantations on Kaua‘i. His grandfather was the eldest boy of eight and his mother was born at Kapi‘olani Hospital. When the opportunity arose for his wife to get a job as a professor in the school of Social Work at UH Mānoa, they decided to move here and plant their roots. Seth and his wife Amanda have two wonderful children and live in Kailua. Before joining UH Mānoa, Seth ran a successful IT consulting firm in Los Angeles for ten years. He now serves as the director of IT for the College of Arts, Languages and Letters. He hopes to lend his voice in support of staff and their needs across the Mānoa campus.
