On Thursday, April 4, 2024, CJS Director Mark Levin and former CJS Director Robert Huey joined Dr. Pier Carlo Tommasi and his JPN 613 students for a special field trip to the Honolulu Museum of Art.

Attendees had a chance to visit the Shining Prince: The Tale of Genji exhibition, open from December 21, 2023 – April 7, 2024, and see a variety of artifacts on display from the Richard Lane collection. Lane (1926–2002) was an American scholar, author, collector, and dealer of Japanese art.
