The week of Valentine’s Day brought with it an amazing two days with Urasenke Chadō Tradition 15th-Generation Grand Master, Dr. Genshitsu Sen.
Dr. Sen returned to Honolulu to give his lecture, The Spirit of Tea and Peacefulness, to a crowd of 200+ guests at the UH Mānoa Campus Center Ballroom on February 14, 2024.
On February 15, Dr. Sen joined CJS Director Mark Levin, Way of Tea Instructor Akiko Ono Riley, and the Way of Tea Club students at the Hawaiʻi State Legislature for a ceremony recognizing and commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Jaku’an Tea House on the UH Mānoa campus.
Many special guests were in attendance, including Former U.S. Representative Colleen Hanabusa, Mrs. Jean Ariyoshi, wife of former Governor George Ariyoshi, and Mrs. Lynne Waiheʻe, wife of former Governor John Waiheʻe.
