History PhD Student Uluwehi Hopkins Wins Major Fellowship
A 2021-22 American Association of University Women (AAUW) fellowship has been awarded to Kanaka Maoli (person of Hawaiian ancestry) scholar at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, J. Uluwehi Hopkins. The fellowship recognizes women who pursue innovative academic work and community projects.
Uluwehi is pursuing her PhD in Hawaiian history at UH Mānoa’s Department of History under the mentorship of Dr. John Rosa.
Uluwehi’s doctoral research focuses on “the lands that now make up UH Mānoa’s campus, the water resources that once flowed through that ʻāina (land), and the community that lived there,” as described in a new feature on UH News.
Ho’omaika’i, Uluwehi!
