Jan Dickey Awarded Prestigious Golden Foundation Residency

Jan Dickey (MFA, Painting 2018) was awarded the highly competitive Golden Foundation Residency. Over 600 international artists applied for 18 spots. Dickey will participate in the residency in upstate New York where he will have an unlimited supply of paints and be introduced to the latest standards in ecological use of painting and experimental use of materials.

Dickey’s latest work investigates human obsessions with territoriality. Through experimentation with materiality and impermanence, he underpins the absurdity of seizing territory. His work resists archival materials often returning to natural materials and processes that are impacted by the environment, questioning the “logic of permanence”.
