This poster will illustrate the activities and processes of the faculty in the Special Education MEd program at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UHM) in moving towards a shared vision and commitment to improving our preparation of leaders in the field using the tools of program learning assessment. As our department decided to once again seek accreditation from our premier professional association, the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), in fall 2022, we went through a collaborative process of reviewing the accreditation standards, aligning our program learning outcomes with the standards and the institutional learning objectives. Through the curriculum mapping process, the faculty recognized the need for closer alignment of three separate tracks within the master’s degree program. The process also led us to examine signature assignments and assessment products, and how to scaffold assignments throughout the program so that students can meet the expected performance level, thus forming a shared vision of the curriculum and program outcomes.
