After analyzing the university’s needs and researching best professional development practices, the UHM Assessment Office initiated an exciting project to build assessment leaders on campus through its inaugural Assessment Leadership Institute in summer
2013 that had 10 participants. The model features extensive support after the initial intensive 4-day institute. The model has shown great success. A longitudinal study has been planned to monitor its institutional impact. By Yao Zhang Hill
