Themes for the 2021 Review under the Thematic Pathway for Reaffirmation

The steering committee worked together to identify themes and initiatives that would move our campus forward in ways that align with our mission, vision, and the strategic plan, Mānoa 2025.

Illustration of taro leafBecoming a Native Hawaiian Place of Learning: responsive to the needs and assets of Native Hawaiian communities and reflective of Indigenous Hawaiʻi. Through our theme we focus on gaining traction on implementing recommendations from the seminal Ke Au Hou (2012) and Ka Ho‘okō Kuleana (2016) reports in the areas of Native Hawaiian student success, staff and faculty engagement, cultivating a Native Hawaiian environment, and Native Hawaiian community engagement.

Our theme was designed to build on our success in improving graduation and retention rates by delving deeper into the student experience and shoring up support for underrepresented and underserved populations.

As a theme, it reflects our commitment to actively engage our students to address the changing needs of our state and the planet. By challenging our students to integrate and apply new knowledge, we open pathways for them to become leaders in innovating the future.
