About MSE

History of the Mānoa Sophomore Experience

The Manoa Sophomore Experience started under the leadership of Assistant Vice Chancellor of Undergraduate Education, Dr. Ronald Cambra. Representatives from across the Manoa campus came together to form the Sophomore Experience Committee in Fall 2011. The primary directive of the Sophomore Experience Committee was to help sophomores transition and better integrate into the campus community at UHM. Early initiatives included Sophomore Conferences and a Sophomore Social. In summer 2013, the program was revamped and became the Manoa Sophomore Experience (MSE). Its mission expanded to include not only sophomores but freshmen as well. The MSE continues to evolve as the needs of students change, and it is always seeking to better serve the UHM community.
