Day 1 Manaʻo for Cohort Kumukahi October 4, 2024

For our fourth offering of Cohort Kumukahi, our five-day October session will be spread over five consecutive Fridays, starting on the moon of Hoaka. For this session’s particular opening, rather than offering protocol to open the space within the hālau (as we usually do), our participants had the opportunity to oli into the space, and our team then responded and offered “Welina Mānoa” to everyone who was gathered upon the steps fronting Hālau o Haumea before we entered the space together.
Throughout the day, we noticed really amazing conversations blossoming among everyone, which made the space really breathe in new ways. We also had the opportunity to learn Welina Mānoa earlier in our programming than usual, and already the voices sounded so good within the walls of the hālau. Mahalo also to all of the Pilina Circle co-facilitators who held space today: Punihei and Tenaya, Kawehi and Nick, and Megumi for being my wonderful co-facilitator!
The closing words shared included: grateful, motivated, energized, engaged, inspired, motivated, mehana, excited, fluffy, ready, curious, weuweu, piha, warm, caring, hungry, content, recharged, thoughtful, happy, connection, hopeful, fortunate, peaceful, pilina, hoihoi, accepted, optimistic, relaxed, tired, privilege, called, encouraged, fulfilled, fun, and wiser.
