UHM NH Updates: Anahulu Poepoe, ʻApelila 2025 Tuesday 4/8 - Thursday 4/17

Aloha pumehana kākou,
Yesterday morning during our weekly Monday chanting of “Welina Mānoa,” we had such a wonderfully party-sized time right outside of our office at Hawaiʻi Hall. Starting the week with a dozen laughing faces is always the best way to spend a Monday morning, so mahalo to the folks who regularly take time out of your busy days to join us, especially those who get their morning cardio to make it in time for us to start!
Our ʻōlelo noʻeau for this anahulu is perhaps an example of something we can say at the approach of folks crossing the lawn and ascending the steps of Hawaiʻi Hall:
Welo kīhei a ke Aʻeloa.
The shoulder covering fluttered in the Aʻeloa wind.
Traveled with speed. The runner went so fast that his kīhei stood straight out behind as he ran against the Aʻeloa wind. —ʻŌN#2937
This ʻōlelo noʻeau also reminds me of clouds that are shaped by strong winds that billow out with long tails, as pictured above. With a little bit of the Punaluʻu mountain ridge peeking out in the corner of the photo, the valley is adorned by this moving cloud and formed by the winds.
Anahulu Reflection:
In your own life, are there examples of other ways that you might be moving swiftly this anahulu?
