THEA 626  Advanced Topics in Theatre – Alexander Technique

Yonsei from O‘ahu, teaching the Alexander Technique since 1988.  Trained at the Alexander Training Institute in San Francisco under director Frank Ottiwell, and assisted Mr. Ottiwell at the American Conservatory Theatre. Jill has worked with artists from many organizations including the San Francisco Symphony, Ballet and Opera, Honolulu Theatre for Youth, Asian American Dance Performances, the Women’s Philharmonic, Honolulu Symphony. In community she has led workshops for women living with cancer, in substance and domestic abuse recovery, elders aging, LGBTQ youth, and many others. Jill is a choreographer/dancer and UHM alumnus, whose work has been commissioned and funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, California Arts Council, James Irvine Foundation, and numerous foundations, presenters and community organizations. In 1992 Jill founded Purple Moon in San Francisco, using dance and multi-disciplinary collaboration to illuminate stories of less visible communities including lesbians and women of color.
