Celia Chun graduated from the University of Hawaiʻi with a BFA and MFA in Dance where she trained with Yasuki Sasa, Carl Wolz, Gregg Lizenbery, Elizabeth Fisher and Eve Walstrum. Ms. Chun performed in the televised series “Fame” and locally as Principal Dancer for Ballet Hawaii, Hawaii Ballet Theater and Hawaii Opera. She was Assistant Ballet Mistress to Ballet Hawaii from 1987 – 1991 and opened her own ballet studio, School of Honolulu Dance Theatre, in 1992.

Awards include Hawaii State Dance Council’s Award recognizing contribution to the Arts in Hawaiʻi, State Foundation on Culture and the Arts’ Individual Artist Performing Arts Fellowship and Hawaiʻi State Theater Council Award Poʻokela for Featured Female in a Musical and Choreography. Ms. Chun was Co-Director of the Honolulu Dance Theatre (1993 – 2003).

Currently, Ms. Chun teaches Middle/High School Ballet and Contemporary Dance at Mid-Pacific Institute and works with Diamond Head Theatre, volunteering as Assistant Director/Dancer in many of their productions.
