The Linguistics minor is offered for students who wish to further their knowledge of linguistics as a complement to their major studies.
The requirements include LING 320: General Linguistics, which is offered both in fall and spring semesters, plus 12 additional credits from any 300- or 400-level course in Linguistics, for a total of 15 credits (a minimum of 12 credits must be taken at UH Mānoa).
All courses for the minor must be taken for a letter grade, and each must be passed with a minimum grade of "C" (not C-) or better.
Courses for the minor cannot be used to fulfill requirements for the student's major. Students are encouraged, but not required, to take one of our 100-level courses before beginning the minor.
