Anna Belew (PhD 2020)

Dr. Anna Belew is currently the Executive Director of The Endangered Languages Project, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals and organizations worldwide working to preserve and protect their endangered heritage languages.

Akiemi Glenn (PhD 2012)

Dr. Akiemi Glenn has become a leader in the nonprofit world in Honolulu. She is the Founder and Executive Director of The Pōpolo Project, an organization that works to redefine what it means to be Black in Hawaiʻi.

Khairunnisa (PhD 2022)

Dr. Khairunnisa is a permanent researcher at BRIN, The National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia. Nisa, who is a speaker of the Ampenan Sasak, a variety of Sasak language of Lombok island in eastern Indonesia, first joined the doctoral program in linguistics at UHM as a Fulbright scholar.

Mary Walworth (PhD 2015)

Dr. Mary Walworth has become a leader in linguistic research with speakers of Oceanic languages. She is currently a Research Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, Germany.

Bonnie Windham (MA 2014)

Bonnie Windham went on to become the Language Access Manager at the State of Oregon Department of Human Services, a job in which she ensures that residents of Oregon with communication needs can access the services they are entitled to.

Stephanie Witkowski (MA 2013)

Stephanie Witkowski became the Executive Director of a nonprofit organization that partners with Indigenous communities worldwide to create language learning materials and promote language sustainability.
