On Friday, February 28, 2025, career diplomats Shannon Dorsey and Drew Schufletowski discussed their work experiences and addressed burning questions about landing a foreign service job at a hybrid event moderated by Haider Rifaat (PhD Student, Political Science, University of Hawai’i at Mānoa). Shannon Dorsey is the State Department Diplomatic Fellow at the East-West Center. She previously served as the Cultural Affairs Officer at the US Embassy in Tokyo and held roles in the Bureau of Global Talent Management and the East Asia and Pacific Affairs Bureau. Her experience includes a congressional fellowship as a foreign policy advisor, public affairs and consular roles in Southeast Asia, and work in cultural programs and diplomacy.

Drew Schufletowski is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service. He assumed his current position as Foreign Policy Advisor to the Commander, US Army Pacific in August 2024. He previously served as the Minister Counselor for Economic, Environment, Science and Technology Affairs at the US Embassy in India.

This event was part of the Careers in Asia-Pacific Affairs Speaker Series, which is cosponsored by the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Center for Indo-Pacific Affairs, Center for Southeast Asian Studies, East Asia National Resource Center, Center for Pacific Island Studies, and Department of Asian Studies.
