Job Description

Assist the Asian Studies department chair in teaching an undergraduate course, building a website, and organizing a series of activities and resources designed to bolster UH student success in identifying and launching careers in Asia-Pacific-related fields.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in teaching the new ASAN 305 Career Pathways in Asian Studies course in fall 2024
  2. Assist in organizing a speaker series and career workshop events
  3. Build a website to house resources for the Careers in Asia-Pacific Affairs initiative
  4. Develop a strategy for publicizing these resources
  5. Other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Asian Studies chair.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Full-time classified graduate student in good standing in Asian studies, Social Sciences, Humanities, Education, or related field with substantial coursework in Asia-related studies
  2. Native or near-native fluency in English
  3. Strong written and oral communication skills
  4. Demonstrated experience in website development and maintenance
  5. Experience with basic graphic design and use of online design tools such as Canva
  6. Experience in social media marketing
  7. Ability to work with minimal supervision

Desirable Qualifications:

  1. Familiarity with the BA and/or MA programs in Asian Studies
  2. Previous teaching (or teaching assistant) experience
  3. Experience in event coordination
  4. Strong organizational skills
