Atlantic Council Program Assistant, Global China Hub

Deadline: Rolling

Job Location: Atlantic Council Headquarters – Washington, DC
Employment Type: Full-Time
Seniority Level: Entry-Level
Job Category: Staff

Overview

The Atlantic Council is seeking two talented, dynamic and entrepreneurial individuals for full-time Program Assistant positions in its Global China Hub. The Program Assistants will support a diverse range of efforts across the Global China Hub’s three major pillars, addressing: 1) China’s growing influence on countries, global institutions, and democratic values; 2) the global ramifications of political and economic change in Xi Jinping’s China; and 3) China’s drive to dominate emerging technologies and consequences for individual rights and privacy.

Reporting to the Hub’s Deputy Director and working closely with other program staff, the Program Assistants will be responsible for substantive, logistical, and administrative support for the Hub’s operations and ambitious programming agenda. This will include a focus on providing logistical support for events and convenings, coordinating with stakeholders across the Council, and helping manage some of the Hub’s external-facing communications (including social media and website management).

The successful candidates will have an entrepreneurial spirit, superb communication skills, and enjoy the complexity of working on a team that engages robustly with programs across the Council. The ideal candidates have a background in China or East Asian studies. The position requires excellent administrative and communication skills, superior writing ability, extraordinary attention to detail—especially written detail—and a proven aptitude to make sound judgments, assume responsibility and work independently in a fluid program with tight deadlines and competing priorities.

The successful candidates for these positions will be committed to the Atlantic Council’s core mission to renew the Atlantic community for global challenges and the Hub’s commitment to research and devise allied solutions to the global challenges posed by China’s rise, leveraging and amplifying the Atlantic Council’s work on China across its 15 other programs and centers. These positions will be located in Washington, DC. The Atlantic Council seeks applicants with diverse backgrounds and offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, education, and organizational equity, with offers starting at $45,000.
