Sixth Annual Jon Van Dyke Institute & KIOST Conference hosted at University of Victoria, B.C.

October 11-13, 2018 – Sherry Broder organized the 2018 Regional Conference, “Ocean Policy for East Asia and Pacific Islands,” at the Centre for Asia-Pacific Initiatives at the University of Victoria, B.C. This was the sixth annual Jon Van Dyke Institute and Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology collaborative conference.

The conference included presentations and discussions on a multitude of ocean law topics. Professor David Freestone gave the opening keynote address, emphasizing the importance of stewardship as a cornerstone of environmental law.  Other speakers included: Dr. Susan Breau (University of Victoria Law School, Canada); Dr. Kwon Moon-Sang (Ocean Policy Institute, KIOST, Rep.
