A scholar-practitioner whose profile extends from creative work to published scholarship, George Wang teaches production, editing, post sound and film studies courses at the ACM: The School of Cinematic Arts at UH Mānoa. He is a recipient of a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award to teach/research at The University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on the life and works of King Hu, the cinematic titan who revolutionized the martial arts/wuxia genre.

His articles and reviews appear in Asian Cinema journal, Journal of Chinese Cinemas, Archiv orientální, Journal of Film and Video and Journal of Media Education, etc. George is co-editor for Asian Cinema journal’s special issue Cinematic Currents Between China and the United States (with Tim Gruenewald). For the King Hu Retrospective at the 15th Far East Film Festival (Udine, Italy), George co-edited  King Hu in His Own Words (with editor Roger Garcia), the first English language publication of King Hu’s writings (also published in Italian and French).

George was awarded the 2021 Excellence in Teaching Award by the UHM College of Art, Languages & Letters.
