Dr. Chang received her BA from Mills College in Oakland, California, and her MBA and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. Before joining the University of Hawaii, she was Professor of Finance and Director of the PACAP Research Center at the University of Rhode Island.

Dr. Chang’s research has been published in Journal of Finance, Journal of Risk and Insurance, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Business Finance & Accounting, Financial Management, Journal of Financial Services Research, Research in Finance, Financial Review, Pacific-Basin Capital Markets Research and Pacific-Basin Finance Journal. Her current research interests include issues related to Asian capital markets, mutual funds and market microstructure. She has conducted commissioned studies for international institutions such as the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), United Nations Industrial Development Organization. She also has done research projects for the Securities & Futures Commission of Hong Kong, the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange, Jakarta Stock Exchange, Taiwan Stock Exchange and the Stock Exchange of Thailand.

Dr. Chang is serving as a member of the Editorial Board for the Pacific-Basin Finance Journal. Since 1989, she has been the Program Chair for the Annual PACAP Finance Conferences. Dr. Chang is a member of the American Economic Association, American Finance Association, Association for Investment Management and Research, and Financial Management Association.

Dr. Chang has been a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) since 1984 and is active in training and educating future CFAs. She served as an independent trustee for the Zurich Scudder Investments, Inc from 1995-2000.
