Stories That Inspire Giving

Behind every gift is a story—a story of gratitude, legacy, and the desire to make a difference. The Donor Stories featured here highlight the meaningful impact of generosity on our students, programs, and communities.

At the College of Arts, Languages & Letters, our donors help preserve cultural knowledge, support student success, and open doors to academic opportunity. Whether through scholarships, program funding, or cultural preservation, these acts of giving create ripples that shape lives for generations.

We invite you to explore the stories of those who give and discover the many ways you too can leave a lasting legacy.

A Legacy of Language and Learning

As a proud CALL alumna, Mrs. Leina‘ala Wong established the Wong Endowed Scholarship to honor her parents’ love of language and culture. “They believed deeply in the power of words to connect people,” she shares. Her support now helps CALL students studying Hawaiian and Asian languages pursue their passions without the burden of financial stress. “It’s a joy to give back to a place that shaped who I am.”

Giving Back Through Language

Inspired by her time at the College of Arts, Languages & Letters, alumna Leina‘ala Wong created the Wong Endowed Scholarship to support students studying language and cultural preservation. “CALL opened my eyes to the richness of global perspectives,” she says. “This scholarship is my way of ensuring others have that same opportunity.” Her gift continues to empower students committed to keeping languages—and stories—alive.
