2015 Delta Omega Induction Ceremony and Distinguished Lecture

The 2015 Delta Omega Induction Ceremony and Distinguished Lecture was held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015. Congratulations to inductees, Lehua Choy, graduating with her DrPH, Jessica Fabrigas, Samantha Kodama, and Michelle Tagorda, graduating with their MPH, and Reni Soon, MD, MPH, alumni, who were selected for their academic excellence and contributions to public health. 

Distinguished lecturer, Dr. Lars Alfredsson, from Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden presented a talk on "Epidemiology as a tool to understand interactions between exposure, genetics, and immunophenotype" with examples from rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis. Representatives from Karolinska also visited OPHS to discuss possibilities for joint research projects and student and faculty exchange. 

Delta Omega, founded in 1924, is a national honor society to encourage research and scholarship among graduate students of public health and to recognize attainment and achievement in the field of public Health. Our chapter, Delta Omega Gamma, is one of 80 active chapters in the US. Dr. Al Katz is president of our chapter, and Dr. Eric Hurwitz is the president of the national organization.
