The Student Activity and Program Fee Board is made up of dedicated and driven students who are proud to support activities for the student body of UH Mānoa. We strive to represent the students of our Mānoa, William S. Richardson School of Law, and John A. Burns School of Medicine campuses. Lawrence Gerald Guittap, Chairperson
Major: Molecular Cell Biology
Bio: I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. In my free time, I love drinking cold brew coffee and solving Sudoku puzzles. I hope to become a primary care physician and serve my hometown of Kalihi.
Fun Fact: While I’ve lived on an island all my life, I don’t know how to swim!
Kara Kanetis, Vice Chairperson

Arianne Karylle Cadiz, Treasurer
Major: Psychology
Bio: I was born in the Philippines and immigrated to Hawaiʻi at the age of two. I attended Waipahū High School and earned my Associate in Arts in Liberal Arts from Leeward Community College. I love to read, crochet, and sew in my free time. Currently, I am working toward my BA in psychology.
Fun Fact: I prefer drinking room-temperature water over cold water.
Jaret KC Leong, Faculty/APT Member
Major: BA in Business Administration, Master in Public Administration (MPA), and currently a PhD student in Communication & Information Sciences (CIS)
Fun Fact: I love gaming, especially playing Fortnite (with my son and brother-in-law).
S. Yashar B. Shirazi, Board Member
Major: Civil Engineering
Bio: Aloha! I was born in a small and beautiful city in Iran and moved from San Antonio to pursue my Ph.D. at UH. I feel so blessed to be here in Hawai‘i and I’m planning to stay after my graduation. I enjoy listening to all music genres and sometimes I make songs. My hobbies are playing pool (Billiards), hiking with friends, and swimming. I’m also very into visual arts and I enjoy exploring the world and my mind.

Emily Sarasa, Board Member
Major: Law, Juris Doctor Candidate
Bio: I grew up in Miami, Florida, and feel so grateful to study here now! I hope to work in environmental or criminal legal policy reform when I graduate with my JD. You can find me hiking, snorkeling, doing yoga, and eating vegan food in my free time!
Fun Fact: I rescued my dog Remy from under a dumpster!
Sagan Kurose, Board Member
Major: Political Science
Bio: I was born and raised here on O‘ahu. Some of my hobbies include reading, painting, and baking. After graduating, I hope to go to law school.
Fun Fact: I have an extreme fear of snakes.
Chassidy Sakamoto, Board Member
Major: MS TIM (23) Ph.D Business Administration with a concentration in TIM
Bio: I am born and raised on Maui. My hobbies include spending time with my family and going to the beach. I recieved my MS in Travel Industry Manager in May 2023 and I am currently working on my Ph.D in Business Administration with a concentration in TIM

Laura Hostetler, Board Member
Major Mechanical engineering with concentration in aerospace (EPET certificate)
Bio: I was born and raised in Spain. My hobbies are kitesurfing, surfing, snorkeling, hiking, and hanging out with my friends. I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering and after graduating I want to go into the aviation field.
Fun Fact: My favorite fruit is pineapple but I am allergic to it.
Matthew Fujioka, Alternate Board Member
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Bio: I was born and raised in Pearl City, O’ahu. My interests encompass hiking, tennis, and kayaking. Looking ahead, my aspirations involve pursuing a career as an engineer for a prominent robotics or aeronautical company on the mainland.
Fun Fact: I prefer eating pizza crust first.
Maria Mieko Kurose, Alternate Board Member
Major: Exploratory
Bio: Aloha! I was born and raised here on the island of Oahu. In my free time, my favorite thing to do is to cook/ bake for family and friends and would never pass up an opportunity to do something culinary based. I am hoping to be in the education pathway so after college I can pursue my hopes of becoming an educator.
Fun Fact: I have a phobia of bathrooms.
