After proudly serving nearly 20 years in the military, I retired to pursue my passion for languages and education. My time living in Spain and the Netherlands—over seven enriching years in Europe—has deeply enhanced my cultural and professional perspective. I hold a double major in Economics and Spanish from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, where I also successfully completed the Spanish master’s program. This academic journey equipped me with the expertise and experience to teach basic and intermediate Spanish courses. Additionally, I have assisted in several LAIS 100 and 300 level classes, continually expanding my teaching skills and knowledge base.
My areas of interest include second language acquisition, cultural studies, and the global intersections of economics and language. I am passionate about sharing the Spanish language and its diverse cultures with my students. Believing in a student-centered approach, I focus on building communicative competence while providing a solid foundation in grammar. I am committed to contributing to the vibrant academic community at the University of Hawaiʻi and am excited to inspire students in their own language learning journeys.
