The Environmental Law Program is thrilled to welcome Mac Blanchard and Hoku Chun, as the two newest research associates for the ELP team.  Hoku and Mac will be joining current RAs Emily DeVille and Rachel Ray.

Hoku is from Pukalani, Maui.  She received her BS in Sociology and MSW from Brigham Young University.  Originally, Hoku was a Licensed Social Worker serving local families and children of Maui County.  Eventually, Hoku became a mother to twin boys, which ignited her passion to protect and preserve Hawaiʻi for future generations to come.  This passion led Hoku to the William S. Richardson School of Law, where she is a member of the Evening Part-Time Program, allowing her to chase her little ones during the day, and study the law at night.    

Mac Blanchard is a graduate from the University of Colorado at Boulder where he gained his Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a minor in History.  Prior to moving to Hawaiʻi, he lived in Denver and worked for an international law firm in their business development group.  He hopes to gain an Environmental Law Certificate with the goal of increasing collaboration between individuals, governments, nonprofits, and corporations for sustainability and conservation efforts.  Mac has a love for the outdoors and is an avid hiker and bodysurfer.
