Laura Kaakua Appointed as President and CEO of the Hawaiian Islands Land Trust

William S. Richardson School of Law graduate and Environmental Law Certificate recipient, Laura Kaakua was recently appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Hawaiian Islands Land Trust. Kaakua has extensive experience in the conservation sector, she spent the past nine years as the Aloha ʻĀina Project Manager at The Trust for Public Land. Kaakua has also worked as a lecturer at William S. Richardson School of Law and served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Greg Nakamura in the Third Circuit Court.

“Laura’s breadth of experience and remarkably effective style at collaboration among key partners in the land conservation community make her the perfect new leader for the Hawaiian Islands Land Trust. I can’t say enough good things about Laura and the momentum that she will bring to statewide land trust efforts,” said Associate Dean Denise Antolini.
