PALS Distinguished Scholar-in-Residence Discusses Armed Conflict & the Environment

Thursday, January 24, 2018 – Professor Ki-Gab Park gave an “Insider’s Look at How the UNILC Develops International Environmental Law,” yesterday as part of the Law School’s Asia Law Talk series.
Professor Park is the Pacific Asian Legal Studies (PALS) Distinguished Scholar-in-Residence from the University of Korea School of Law, and a member of the UN International Law Commission (ILC).

Professor Park explained his role on the ILC as the representative from South Korea and the ILC’s role in international law. He examined the Draft Articles on Armed Conflict and the Environment. An interesting point of contention within the ILC is whether the word “natural” should proceed “environment.” This inspired a number a questions from the audience.

ELP co-sponsored the event with PALS.
