The Environmental Law Program hosted the 12th Annual Enviromentors event on November 15th, 2016 at Cafe Julia.
This event was created to encourage mentoring between practitioners and law students from all different sectors of environmental law and often leads to valuable mentorships, internships, and jobs within Hawaiʻi’s environmental law community. Every attorney and student meets for five minutes in a “Speed Meeting.” After the event, ELP matches the students up with their mentor based on their feedback for, at the very least, a one-on-one lunch if not a more extensive mentoring relationship. The goal is to spark our law students’ thinking about career options and to match students with an Enviromentor who can be a guide and resource for the student’s future environmental law career.
We were also joined by Representative Chris Lee, who shared some of his wisdom and encouragement with the students and mentors. Representative Chris Lee is currently the Chair of the Committee on Energy and Environmental Protection (EEP). He also serves on the Consumer Protection and Commerce (CPC), Judiciary (JUD), Ocean, Marine Resources and Hawaiian Affairs (OMH), and Water and Land (WAL) committees.
Mahalo nui loa to all participating mentors and students for another enjoyable Enviromentors event!
