On April 19, 2016, the Environmental Law Program hosted the 11th Annual Enviromentors event at Cafe Julia. This is a favorite event among law students because it often leads to valuable mentorships, internships, and jobs within Hawaiʻi’s environmental law community. Each year, participating “Enviromentors” sit down with interested law students in short, three-to-five minute “speed meetings.” After the event, students respond to a survey seeking feedback on the event and submitting a list of their preferred mentors; ELP then matches the students up with their mentor for, at the very least, a one-on-one lunch if not a more extensive mentoring relationship. Many of the connections made through this event have helped to further the environmental law careers of students. After this year’s event, students expressed their gratitude for the experience, as well as their hopes that their new connections will lead to jobs or internships this summer. Mahalo nui loa to all participating mentors and students for another enjoyable Enviromentors event!
