The 2025 SPAS Graduate Student Conference is delighted to feature Dr. Anand Yang as the keynote speaker. Dr. Yang is a professor at the Jackson School of International Studies, and of the History Department at University of Washington teaching South Asian and World History classes at undergraduate and graduate level classes.
He is known for his work in South Asian history, particularly colonial India, with a global comparative focus on India and China. A prolific scholar, his works include The Limited Raj, Bazaar India, and Empire of Convicts. Dr. Yang co-edits the major history series Perspectives on the Global Past, teaches at the University of Washington, and actively engages in public and academic service.
