UHM Coll of Nat Sci – Chemistry, (Manoa)

Details: full time, temporary, non-tenure track, federal funds, to begin July 1, 2015.

Duties:

  • To contribute to research on the mechanisms of S-adenosylmethionine radical enzymes.  The successful candidate will design research experiments involving the synthesis of isotopically-labeled substrates, the purification of enzymes, the setup and analysis of enzyme activity experiments.  The candidate will also be responsible for organizing lab inventory, purchasing supplies, and maintaining essential equipment.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in chemistry or biochemistry
  • Publications in the peer-reviewed publications
  • A record of research accomplishments
  • Ability to carry out independent research and prepare manuscripts and presentations

Desirable qualifications:

  • Prior experience with NMR and/or EPR techniques
  • Prior experience in organic synthesis

Pay range: The stipend is competitive and commensurate with experience starting from $33,000 per annum and may be subjected to tax withholding, as required by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.
