Science departments are becoming increasingly more dependent upon non-state sources of funding in the form of donations and endowments. The continued success of our students and the improvement of the quality of the educational experience we are able to provide depends on securing a stable foundation.
Please help us in this critical mission. Contributions to the Chemistry Department General Fund in any amount are welcome and can will be used for the the following funding priorities:
Scholarships. The rising cost of living in Hawaii is making it more difficult to attract talented individuals to our graduate program. Annual giving or endowments to support scholarships will allow us to remain more competitive in attracting such talent.
Instrumentation. Maintaining state-of-the-art instrumentation is critical for the department to remain competitive for research grants as well as productivity, to the extent that many instruments should be replaced every 6-7 years due to age (and costly repairs for upkeep) or simply to maintain innovations that students should be exposed to before leaving University of Hawaii.
