How advising works:
The Hawaiʻinuiākea School of Hawaiian Knowledge consists of two academic units: The Kawaihuelani Center for Hawaiian Language and the Kamakakūokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies. Each major has its own Academic Advisor. Both units offer undergraduate and masters degrees in Hawaiian Language and Hawaiian Studies respectively. The Kawaihuelani Center for Hawaiian Language also offers a Certificate in Hawaiian Language, a Minor in Hawaiian Language and a Minor in Hawaiian Language Immersion.
Mandatory Advising:
Mandatory meetings are required each semester with their program-specific Academic Advisor. Freshmen and Sophomore students are expected to contact their advisor every semester to discuss academic planning, course registration, future plans/career goals, and address other related questions and/or concerns. The Hawaiʻinuiākea School of Hawaiian Knowledge also hosts a series of special meetings including New Student Orientation, Introductory, and Graduation meetings.
